Appleton Homes builds traditional family homes in a range of rural and urban settings. No two developments are the same: each one is crafted to meet the expectations of the people who will buy there.

Every home we build is for private sale.

Appleton Homes is one of three residential brands within Hewitson Development, the residential division of Hewitson Group. Our sister brands are Oaktree Living, for affordable housing, and Albrough Homes, for housing that supports social care.

In 1987 Michael Hewitson bought his first JCB, branching out into the construction industry alongside the farming partnership. Today Hewitson Group is a groundworks-led business with a workforce of over 300 people, and celebrates 40 years in 2027.

The Group operates from a 300-acre headquarters at Teesside Grange, with regional offices in Bishop Auckland and Team Valley, Gateshead. It remains founder-led, with the next generation running key divisions.
